JOB SUMMARY
EQ8 recruit is recruiting on behalf of a global ship management company for a GM Marine HR, Crew Management, based in Mumbai. This is a senior leadership role responsible for developing and implementing Marine HR strategy across crew management offices in India. The position plays a key part in shaping people operations across a global crewing platform, ensuring performance, compliance, development, and engagement are delivered to the highest standard. You’ll lead a high-performing HR team and collaborate across global offices to ensure alignment and consistency in people delivery.

THE SUCCESSFUL APPLICANT
In order to be shortlisted for the vacancy, the successful candidate will have the following skills and competencies, but not limited to:

• At least 15 years’ progressive HR leadership experience, ideally with exposure to crew or maritime operations
• A bachelor’s degree in human resources or a related field is required; postgraduate qualifications are preferred
• Strong working knowledge of Indian labour law and regulatory compliance
• Demonstrated ability to lead and develop HR teams across multi-site operations
• Experience managing talent, performance, succession, and workforce planning
• Ability to engage senior stakeholders and align Marine HR with global business priorities

JOB DESCRIPTION
The role responsibilities will include, but not limited to:

• Leading and executing the Marine HR strategy across India
• Overseeing all crew management people operations, including grievance handling and policy compliance
• Driving performance management, L&D, and employee engagement programmes
• Collaborating with Centres of Excellence and global stakeholders on strategic HR initiatives
• Ensuring legal compliance and maintaining high standards of people governance
• Supporting the business with data-led reporting, HR insights and workforce planning
