EQ8 Recruit is partnering with a global maritime service provider to appoint a General Manager for their operations in Australia. This growth-focused role is ideal for a commercially driven leader with a passion for sales, team development, and operational excellence. With teams across major Australian ports, the role combines strategic oversight with hands-on leadership to drive expansion and client satisfaction.

THE SUCCESSFUL APPLICANT
To be considered for this role, you’ll need the following qualifications and experience:

• A degree in Business or a related field
• 3–5+ years in a senior operational or leadership role
• Proven track record in commercial growth, client engagement, and team leadership
• Strong knowledge of ship agency operations and maritime networks in Australia
• Experience driving business development and strategic partnerships
• Systems-focused mindset with the ability to streamline and scale operations
• Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
• Must be based in Australia or have professional, in-country experience

JOB DESCRIPTION
Key responsibilities include:

• Lead day-to-day operations across multiple ports with a focus on performance and capability
• Drive new business development and expand market share within the maritime industry
• Build and maintain strong client and stakeholder relationships
• Improve operational efficiency through smart, systems-based approaches
• Mentor and manage a national team of 20, including Branch Managers in each port
• Champion a high-performance culture with a focus on values and safety
• Contribute to strategic planning and long-term growth initiatives
