JOB SUMMARY
The Lead Construction Engineer will oversee the design and development of construction and assemblies for new products, improvements, and engineering changes (ECRs). They will ensure designs meet manufacturing standards, resolve any design issues, and drive continuous improvement in construction processes.  
   
THE SUCCESSFUL APPLICANT
In order to be shortlisted for vacancy, the successful candidate will have the following skills and competencies, but not limited to:

• Ideal qualification: BTech or Bachelors degree in Engineering (NQF Level 7)
• Minimum Qualification: National Diploma in Engineering (NQF Level 6) 
• 3-5 years of design experience in the boat-building industry.
• Proficiency in SolidWorks (2013 upwards) 
• Basic understanding of AutoCAD/Draft sight (2010 upwards).
• Strong analytical, numerical, and creative skills, with attention to detail.
• A team-oriented mindset with excellent organisational and communication skills.  

JOB DESCRIPTION
The role responsibilities will include, but not limited to:

• Design and review joinery and assembly details to meet structural, functional, and certification standards while ensuring manufacturability within cost parameters.
• Create 2D and 3D CAD models and complete calculations for new product designs.
• Develop build sequences and define design intent for assemblies, collaborating with Chief Designers and Naval Architects.
• Issue accurate specifications for production, ensuring clarity in joinery and assembly details.
• Investigate and implement new technologies or products to improve quality or reduce costs.
• Manage and optimize the joinery material database and BOM specifications for new models.
• Oversee critical quality checks during prototyping or ECR implementation for joinery and assemblies.
• Lead, coach, and develop the construction engineering team, ensuring project milestones and deadlines are met.

REMUNERATION PACKAGE
