JOB SUMMARY
Our client is urgently looking for a skilled Legal Advisor to join their Bellville Head Office in Cape Town. This role focuses on providing legal expertise for infrastructure and construction projects, from contract negotiation to project execution. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in ensuring legal compliance and managing risk throughout project lifecycles.

THE SUCCESSFUL APPLICANT
In order to be shortlisted for this role, you have the following skills and experience, but not limited to:

• LLB or equivalent qualification
• Admitted attorney with 5+ years post-articles experience, preferably from a reputable law firm
• Extensive commercial experience with a focus on Project, Construction, and/or Infrastructure sectors
• Strong knowledge of EPC (Engineering, Procurement, and Construction) contracts, O&M (Operations and Maintenance) agreements, and FIDIC construction contracts
• Prior experience with energy projects, particularly renewable energy, is a significant advantage
• Knowledge of Power Purchase Agreements (PPA) is highly desirable

JOB DESCRIPTION
The role responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

• Providing legal support for negotiation and closing of large infrastructure projects, focusing on project development, construction, and commercial contracts
• Drafting, reviewing, and negotiating EPC contracts, O&M agreements, and FIDIC-based construction contracts
• Offering legal assistance throughout the RFP process to the funding and execution stages of projects
• Advising on risk management strategies and ensuring legal compliance during project lifecycles
• Providing counsel on Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs) and Utilities Outsourcing Agreements, including structuring, drafting, and negotiation
• Collaborating with cross-functional teams, including project managers, finance, engineers, and external counsel
• Drafting board and shareholder resolutions, advising on mergers and acquisitions, and handling group restructures
