Our client is looking to hire a Technical Manager on a permanent basis, to be based in Cape Town, South Africa.

JOB SUMMARY The Technical Manager will be responsible for developing and implementing technical procedures that align with legislative requirements, industry standards, and company policies. This role will oversee the technical performance and condition of vessels, ensure compliance with safety and quality standards, and manage budgets and resources for dry dock projects and vessel maintenance.

THE SUCCESSFUL APPLICANT To be shortlisted, the ideal candidate will have the following skills and competencies, including but not limited to:
A Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent qualification, ideally as a Class 1 Marine Engineer
9+ years experience in the marine industry
2+ years experience in a managerial, shore-based role
Ideally, the successful candidate would be currently residing in South Africa
Strong awareness of SHE-Q standards
Proven leadership skills, particularly in client relations, vessel management, and coordinating with service providers
JOB DESCRIPTION The role responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
Developing technical procedures aligned with legislative, industry, and company SHE-Q standards.
Participating in dry dock project planning and enhancing vessel performance.
Managing vessel audits, vetting, and inspections conducted by the technical team.
Monitoring vessel condition to ensure continuous improvements and technical integrity.
Establishing vessel risk profiling for commercial and technical fit.
Compiling and managing annual budgets for technical projects and operations.
Ensuring contingency plans for operations are regularly tested and updated.
Leading and overseeing incident investigations (RCAT).
