About the role:
The primary purpose of the Payroll Officer role is to ensure the accurate, timely, and compliant processing of payroll and related activities for employees, while providing high-quality payroll support and advice to staff and stakeholders. The role is responsible for maintaining payroll data integrity, supporting statutory and reporting requirements, and ensuring adherence to organisational policies, award conditions, and legislative obligations.
Role Responsibilities:
- Process payroll transactions in accordance with relevant award conditions and legislative requirements.
- Set up new employees in the payroll system and process changes to payment and employment conditions.
- Calculate and process termination payments accurately and in a timely manner.
- Respond to payroll queries and email enquiries from employees and key internal and external stakeholders.
- Maintain and update salary packaging records and other payroll-related data.
- Generate periodic payroll reports for internal management and external bodies as required.
- Participate in statutory payroll submissions and compliance reporting.
- Assist with special projects and ad hoc payroll activities as requested.
- Undertake other duties and responsibilities as required within the team.
- Comply with all HR and Finance policies, procedures, and organisational guidelines, including statutory obligations such as OH&S, EEO, and Disability Discrimination legislation.
To be successful in this role, you will need: - Attention to detail
- High degree of competence using Payroll software; experience with MicrOpay is preferred
- Ability to prioritise workload and multi-task
- Excellent time management skills and highly organised
- Ability to adapt to a changing environment
- High level of professional integrity and confidentiality
- Analytical and problem-solving ability
