The Disability Employment Catalyst project (managed by The Achieve Foundation) is partnering with Berry Street Yooralla to provide sustainable, good quality jobs for candidates with disability in the disability/care sector. We are seeking a Disability Inclusion Advisor with significant experience in diversity and inclusion to support Berry Street Yooralla in building their capacity and capability to employ people with disability at scale.
You will work directly with Berry Street Yooralla to ensure inclusive practices as they integrate their People & Culture processes and practices, after their recent merger. Periodic reporting with The Achieve Foundation, as project manager, will also be required. The Achieve Foundation will employ you and provide your expertise and skills to Berry Street Yooralla through a secondment arrangement to support the Disability Employment Catalyst project.
Your expertise and lived experience of disability will be an asset to this role.
This is a 6 month contract, 3 days per week. Hybrid work environment, with 1 day per week in the office.

Role Responsibilities:
The Disability Confident Lead Advisor will review the Recruitment, Onboarding, Induction and Reasonable Workplace Adjustment practices to remove barriers for employees with disabilities to ensure employer readiness to employ more people with disabilities. This role will champion disability inclusion and raise awareness amongst staff about disability and inclusion, fostering a supportive and inclusive environment where all employees feel valued, empowered and included.
- Provide support and consultation to the Talent & Acquisition team to help them integrate the Berry Street Yooralla recruitment and selection processes and remove barriers for employees with disabilities. Review the candidate experience from an inclusion lens. Provide an adaptable inclusive framework for the Talent & Acquisition team to operate within.
- Collaborate with the People Services team to enhance onboarding processes, ensuring they are inclusive and supportive of employees with disabilities.
- Partner with the Learning & Development team to ensure our induction programs ae accessible and meet diverse needs.
- Review and refine Reasonable Adjustment policies and practices to ensure they effectively reduce barriers and promote equitable workplace participation.
- Support the development of inclusive leadership capabilities across the organisation.
- Design and implement feedback mechanisms such as surveys, interviews, and focus groups to gather insights from stakeholders.
- Analyse stakeholder feedback to identify opportunities for improvement and develop actionable plans to enhance inclusion and accessibility.
- Prepare and deliver regular progress reports and updates to key stakeholders, ensuring transparency and accountability throughout the project lifecycle.
To be successful in this role, you will need: - Lived experience with disability, contributing valuable insights and perspective.
- Demonstrated experience in designing, implementing and evaluating diversity and inclusion programs and initiatives.
- Ability to critically review and analyse organisational processes through a disability-inclusive lens.
- Experience in managing competing priorities, including rescheduling meetings and adjusting workplaces in consultation with stakeholders.
- Strong skills in proactively preparing and delivering reports, compliance with data and relevant documentation within required timeframes.
- Sound understanding of the legislative and policy frameworks related to diversity, equity and inclusion.
- High-level interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to engage professionally with stakeholder groups and facilitate discussions effectively.
- Proven experience in facilitation and understanding of adult learning principles to support leadership capability.
- Ability to work autonomously, demonstrate initiative, and contribute proactively to organisational goals.
- Excellent organisational and time management skills, with the ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple tasks.
- Demonstrated sound judgement and discretion in navigating sensitive and complex issues.
