Purpose of the Sewing Basket Fabric Sorter - Kincumber
At the Sewing Basket, we sell donated fabrics, patterns, patchwork, embroidery materials, knitting, crochet yarn, haberdashery and more, while providing employment for people with disability. Our colourful shops give donated fabrics and other products a second life, stopping them from going to landfill. The Fabric Sorter will assist the day-to-day operations of The Sewing Basket warehouse and retail outlet at Kincumber. This includes, receiving donations; coordination, categorisation and sorting donated stock, working alongside volunteers and employees we support.
While this is a full-time role, we’re open to candidates seeking part-time arrangements suiting operational requirements.

Role Responsibilities:
- Support our awesome team of staff & volunteers to sort, package, and dispatch donated goods with flair.
- Build great relationships and keep the warehouse & shop buzzing with positive energy.
- Keep things tidy, safe, and on track with policies and procedures.
- Help the Warehouse Supervisor assign daily tasks — from sorting to stocking to customer care.
- Receive and prep donations, including transfers to our Kincumber hub.
- Chat with other store leads to keep stock flowing and shelves glowing!
- Make every shopper’s visit a happy one — smiles, service, and satisfaction are the goal!
To be successful in this role, you will need to: - know your way around sorting, storing, and dispatching stock.
- Deliver top-notch customer service with a friendly, can-do attitude.
- Have a passion for sewing, quilting, or crafty creativity.
- Be a team player who can help coordinate tasks and support others.
- Hold current certifications or willing to get:
- First Aid Certificate
- NDIS Worker Check
- Working with Children Check
- Be confident with basic computer skills and Microsoft 365
- Be adaptable and open to learning new systems and software.
- Have basic Point of Sale (POS) experience — or be keen to learn!
- Be physically capable of lifting up to 15kg.
- Be inclusive and supportive when working alongside employees with diverse abilities.
