Purpose of the Risk and Insurance Lead role
The Risk and Insurance Lead is responsible for providing expert advice to the organisation and support to managers and employees regarding all risk management, insurance, business continuity, internal audit, compliance and emergency management. The Risk and Insurance Lead will ensure the maintenance of compliance with relevant legislation, codes of practice and industry standards.

Role Responsibilities: As Risk and Insurance Lead, your duties and responsibilities will include:
Risk Management
- Review and maintain the Risk Management Policy, Risk Management Framework, Risk Management Procedures and Work Instructions.
- Manage ISO and Australian Risk Management Standards requirements, including facilitation of the internal Risk Management system.
- Undertake second line of defense control effectiveness and assurance reviews.
- Develop and deliver Risk Management training and workshops and promote and embed No-Blame Risk Culture.
- Support the maintenance and reporting of Cyber Security Risks.
- Develop and maintain the Fraud Control Plan including conducting investigations, managing risk as required.
- Maintain the Business Resilience Framework.
- Develop an Emergency Management Plan, including Policy and Procedure, deliver training and conduct scenario testing.
- Develop a Crisis Management Plan, establish a Crisis Management Team, deliver training and conduct scenario testing.
- Review Business Continuity Plans, deliver training and conduct scenario testing.
- Manage the Risk Hub (SharePoint site) to ensure it provides current and accurate information for users.
Insurance
- Liaise with insurance broker, insurers, claims assessors and loss adjusters.
- Manage the annual general insurance renewal process.
- Manage the Insurance Hub (SharePoint site) to ensure it provides current and accurate information for users.
- Manage insurance policies, warranties and indemnities and maintain insurance Certificates of Currency.
- Manage insurance related renewals, notifications, disclosures, and claims, including but not limited to crime, cyber, director and officers’ liability, motor vehicle, ISR/property, employment practices liability, etc.
- Coordinate insurance related training and information sessions, including the Driver Safety Training Program.
- Conduct Business Interruption Reviews and insurance broker meetings.
Compliance
- Manage all legislative and regulatory compliance obligations.
- Develop and maintain a Compliance Management System, including related regulatory compliance subscription alerts.
- Maintain the Compliance Register and provide regular reports, including compliance breaches and corrective actions.
Internal Audit
- Support the Chief Financial Officer to:
- Coordinate internal audits including requirements, annual planning, terms of reference, key meetings, and reports.
- Maintain the Internal Audit Register and track outstanding management actions.
- Coordinate monthly Internal Auditor meetings.
- Undertake other appropriate duties as directed.
Reporting
- Develop risk, insurance, compliance and internal audit reports for the Board, Board Committees, Executive Team, Management Committees, and others as required.
To be successful in this role, you will need: - Certificate IV or Diploma in Risk Management, Insurance or similar.
- Demonstrated experience in risk management, business continuity, crisis management, insurance, claims management, regulatory compliance, and internal audit.
- Demonstrated experience in the application of ISO31000 Risk Management Standard.
- Demonstrated experience in managing insurance programs, including claims and renewal processes.
- Demonstrated experience in managing compliance and audit processes.
- Well-developed skills in Microsoft Office 365, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Experience in the administration of GRC systems.
- Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
