Purpose of the Sewing Basket Warehouse Assistant - Kincumber
At the Sewing Basket, we sell donated fabrics, patterns, patchwork, embroidery materials, knitting, crochet yarn, haberdashery and more, while providing employment for people with disability. Our colourful shops give donated fabrics and other products a second life, stopping them from going to landfill. The Warehouse Assistant will assist the day-to-day operations of The Sewing Basket warehouse and retail outlet at Kincumber under the remit outlined by the Warehouse Supervisor. This includes, receiving donations; coordination, categorisation and sorting donated stock, working alongside volunteers and employees we support. We offer a permanent part-time role with flexible days.

Role Responsibilities:
- Provide support to a team of employees and volunteers to effectively operate a donated goods process including categorising, sorting and despatch of product
- Assist in providing customers with the necessary support to ensure that their shopping experience is a happy and satisfying one, and that the focus of employees and volunteers is directed towards achieving good outcomes for customers.
- Establish positive relationships with volunteers and staff to ensure that all can work effectively in their role both in the warehouse and retail store.
- Contribute to the day-to-day operations of The Sewing Basket warehouse to ensure a safe environment for customers, volunteers and employees, in compliance with the organisation’s policies, processes and procedures and meet all regulatory and legislative requirements as advised by staff within Achieve Australia.
- Assist the Warehouse Supervisor in the allocation of tasks to volunteers and employees. Tasks can involve, categorising, sorting and pricing stock, despatch sorted stock to the network of retail shops, replenishment of product displays in the shop and providing customers with service, advice and support.
- Assist in the receipt of donated stock. A large proportion of donated stock that is received in Sydney will be transferred to the Kincumber warehouse for processing.
- Communicate with other store supervisors to ensure that requirements are met across all sales channels in line with management directives.
To be successful in this role, you will need: - Knowledge of and ability to operate warehousing and stock sorting capability.
- Knowledge and understanding of the critical importance of providing high standard customer service.
- Knowledge and understanding of sewing, quilting and related craft activities will be highly regarded.
- Demonstrated ability to work with other team members and help in coordination of tasks.
- Current Working with Children Check
- Current NDIS Worker Check
- Current First Aid certificate
