About the role
Manage the effective and efficient processing, verification, and reconciliation of the fortnightly payroll & payments to creditors.
You will independently perform complex payroll calculations, while ensuring compliance with industrial awards and employment policies. You will also assist with the implementation of new systems and the design of improved workflows to enhance both accounts payable and payroll processes.
What you’ll do
Payroll:
- Calculate and process payroll adjustments to ensure the accurate administration of salary, associated claims, industrial award entitlements within legislation and policy
- Process complex and special conditions of employment, payroll reconciliations, and related data which may include payroll variations and accurate payments
- Provide data reporting and analysis in line with business requirements to inform salary accuracy and consistency
- Ensure payroll compliance through keeping abreast with relevant payroll legislations, regulations, and changes affecting the organisation
- Identify system, payroll and employee related issues and contribute to recommendations to improve payroll services and processes.
- Collaborate with HR and relevant stakeholders to ensure latest information is available in time for payroll processing
- Maintain file notes and records through organisational electronic records management systems holding privacy principles in accordance with legislation, policies and procedures
Payments:
- Being the first point of contact for all internal and external accounts payable queries
- Processing of payments ensuring compliance to delegation of authority, coding, and approvals
- Regular review of outstanding liabilities
- New supplier and change supplier process, including ABN review
- Corporate credit card transactions using dedicated systems
- Employee expense transactions including interface to payroll reimbursements
- Prepare and post allocated month end journals
- Prepare relevant balance sheet reconciliations
- Provide timely and appropriate resolution to issues on consolidated invoicing
About you
- 5+ years’ experience in Procure to Payment functions and Payroll within a medium to large Australian organisation
- Tertiary qualification in Commerce, Finance, Accounting
- Payroll Certifications such as APA / TAPS are highly regarded
- Strong working knowledge of Australian payroll legislation, Fair Work requirements, Superannuation Guarantee (SG), PAYG withholding, and payroll tax
- Experience with payroll and finance systems such as Employment Hero and Microsoft F&O is an advantage
- Proven involvement in finance-related process improvement projects, with a focus on automation, compliance, and efficiency gains
