About the role
This is a strategic role responsible for developing Standards Australia’s international engagement strategy, in collaboration with SA's leadership team. The role also leads the IEC National Committee, supports Australian representatives in ISO and IEC governance roles, manages bilateral programs and strengthens relationships with counterpart bodies.
What you’ll do
- Contribute to the development and implementation of Standards Australia’s international engagement strategy
- Ensure Standards Australia is meeting obligations as a member of ISO and IEC, including governance participation and compliance
- Serve as IEC National Committee Manager
- Design and manage the bilateral meeting program
- Build and maintain strategic relationships with standards bodies/organisations across regions to advance Australia’s interests and cooperation
- Provide concise, strategic briefings on international matters to executive leaders
- Develop high-quality position papers, talking points, and risk/opportunity analysis to inform decision-making
- Identify and address system-level issues in international standards-setting and advise on implications for Australia and Standards Australia
About you
- Bachelor's degree in politics, international relations, communication or other relevant fields
- Minimum 7 years proven experience in a professional, government, commercial or similar international policy role
- Extensive understanding of Australia’s trade policy and economic diplomacy priorities
- Deep understanding of the national and international standards-setting system
