About the role
As the lead security engineer, the Security Operations Lead will be responsible for security operations, investigating and resolving security threats and incidents, maintaining and configuring security solutions, performing risk assessments, resolving technical faults and engaging in delivery of cyber security uplifts and projects. While this role is involved in operational team management, it does not have any direct reports.
What you’ll do
- Lead and drive end-to-end incident management, including detection, analysis, containment, eradication, and recovery
- Management of outsourced SOC vendor in performance of incident identification and triage, and manage handover to internal team for escalation, stakeholder management and resolution
- Developing and implementing of processes and procedures to support security operations
- Ongoing management of SIEM solution, configuration and refinement of SIEM rules and policies, including integration of security tools and logs
- Integrate various security tools and technologies to enhance monitoring and detection capabilities
- Establish strategies for monitoring logs, events and signals of suspicious activities
- Creation and maintenance of incident response playbooks.
- Conduct proactive threat hunting to identify potential security incidents.
- Communication to management and business stakeholders on incident status, incident management practices
- Stay updated with the latest security trends, technologies, and best practices, and continuously seek opportunities to enhance the organization's security posture
- Ongoing management of security solutions to ensure effective security posture. Advise on uplift requirements. Maintain a watching brief on security solutions and propose improvements to senior management
- Implement cyber security controls as part of projects and initiatives
- Vulnerability management and threat intelligence
- Participate in security and risk assessments in collaboration with internal and external stakeholders
- Provide subject matter expertise input to security architecture and solutions. Assist the security architect in designing reliable, powerful and flexible security architectures for IT projects
- Creation of security reports for management
- Operational team management, including task assignment, activity coordination, status monitoring
About you - 5+ years of cyber security operations experience
- Tertiary qualification in Cyber Security, IT or Engineering, (electronics/computer/communication/networking) highly regarded
- Industry relevant certifications such as CISSP, CISM, CEH, GSEC or CompTIA Security+ highly regarded
- Extensive experience in technical aspects of information security and architecture, and preferably IT risk management
- Demonstrable understanding of information security controls and technology
- Experience of working with an ISO27001 ISMS or NIST
- Significant experience in using and implementing cloud platforms (Azure in particular)
- Strong knowledge of Windows operating environment and service architecture
