About the role
This role is a key leader responsible for guiding a team of Full Stack Developers and Automation Test Analysts to deliver value to customers and the business. They ensure the successful delivery of high-quality software solutions while fostering a culture of accountability, technical, and operational excellence.
You will collaborate closely with the Group Project Management Office (GPMO) to set team direction and drive delivery outcomes. With a strong technical background, you are hands-on when needed but primarily focus on people, technical, and delivery leadership, as well as the health and availability of production systems.
The SEM is accountable for the team's health, performance, and growth. They enhance capability through coaching, mentoring, and hiring, ensuring the team is equipped to tackle domain-specific challenges.
What you’ll do
- Foster a culture of support by setting clear expectations, providing real-time constructive feedback, effective training, one-on-one coaching, mentoring to drive high performance
- Collaborate closely with the GPMO to devise a roadmap that achieves the business goals as efficiently as possible
- Oversee the end-to-end delivery of appropriate solutions, ensuring high-quality, timely delivery, and alignment with the product/technical strategies, and relevant standards.
- Facilitate decision making, ensuring short-term delivery outcomes are balanced with progressing longer-term strategic initiatives
- Act as a key point of contact for stakeholders, ensuring clear communication and alignment on project goals and progress
- Proactively engage and collaborate with key stakeholders such as Security, Architecture etc., to deliver quality end-to-end solutions
- Measure the health and performance of the team and platform through key metrics to identify opportunities for improvement
- Communicate the team’s successes and learnings to the wider business
- Take ownership of the team's outcomes and the achievement of objectives
- Participate in setting and refining the technical strategy, in collaboration with the Developers, Testers, BAs
- Proactively monitor and advocate for the reduction of technical debt
- Monitor, communicate and manage technical risk, security concerns, and compliance issues
- Maintain continuous, open, and consistent communication with others and build on successful initiatives to gain support for ideas
- Ensure adherence to and evolution of the Engineering tools, frameworks, practices, standards, and guidelines
- Ensure technical excellence by conducting regular code reviews, promoting best practices, and staying up to date with the latest industry trends and technologies
- Drive Operational Excellence by implementing best practices in software development, testing, deployment, monitoring/observability, and incident response
- Participate major incident response, escalating when required and facilitate PIRs / root cause analysis
- Take a metrics driven approach to monitoring and improving system performance and health, hold the team accountable for their SLOs (Service Level Objective) and metrics
- Foster a culture of quality & continuous improvement and lead the relevant practices in pursuit of it
About you
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or relevant applied industry experience
- 10+ years of experience in designing, developing, implementing, and maintaining enterprise level SaaS applications
- Several years of experience in a managerial role, overseeing software development, cross functional teams, and projects
- Strong development skills in C#, ASP.Net, .net Core, React or Angular and NodeJS
- Strong understanding of Security Best Practices (OWASP Top 10)
- Demonstrated experience in SQL Server or other relational databases
- Experience with Git, Jira, and CI/CD
- Proven track record of successfully delivering complex software projects on time and within scope
- Familiarity with cloud-native technologies and architectures (e.g., Azure/ AWS, microservices) is a plus
- Experience with Agile development methodologies and processes, e.g. Scrum, Kanban
- Experience with employing Extreme Programming (XP) practices such as TDD and pair programming
- Knowledge of DevOps practices and tools
- Prior involvement with production support / incident response beneficial
