Our client is a family-owned farming business operating across 5,000 acres under cultivation, located between Jondaryan and Bowenville (approx. 30 minutes from Dalby and 40 minutes from Toowoomba). The enterprise focuses on dryland and irrigation cropping, including silage, barley, corn, and cotton. With a small, close-knit team and a strong focus on maintaining equipment and property standards, this is a business seeking someone who values longevity and takes pride in their work.
The successful candidate will report directly to the Operations Manager and works alongside one other farm hand. It is best suited to an experienced candidate who is looking to settle into a long-term position and become part of a reliable, committed team. An immediate start is available for the right candidate, given the current busy season.
Key Responsibilities & Duties:
Operate and maintain modern farming machinery, including tractors and planters.
Carry out cultivation tasks such as mulching, ripping, and fertiliser application.
Manage irrigation systems including pivots and siphons for flood irrigation.
Assist with general farm work, including basic fabrication and property maintenance.
Selection Criteria:
Proven experience in dryland and irrigation farming operations.
Ability to set up and calibrate planters (or willingness to learn quickly) .
Strong work ethic with a focus on care, reliability, and long-term commitment.
Practical skills, with fabrication experience advantageous but not essential.
Additional Particulars:
3-bedroom air-conditioned house with power included.
Bore and tank water supplied to the house.
2-bay shed and established yard suitable for families.
School bus access within 3km to Oakey or Dalby.
Work vehicle provided.
Dogs' negotiable (no pig hunting allowed), no cats permitted.
Remuneration negotiable based on experience.
