Our client operates a well-established Braford breeder herd on a productive beef breeding and fattening property located approximately 50km north-west of Alpha, Queensland. The business focuses on efficient livestock management and maintaining strong property infrastructure to support a successful cattle operation in the region.
The successful candidates will report directly to the Station Manager and will suit those with enough maturity and experience to work both independently and as part of a team. This role is ideal for those Station Hands who enjoy practical station work and understand how individual effort contributes to the overall productivity of the operation.
Key Responsibilities & Duties: - Livestock handling including mustering, drafting and cattle processing using horses and 2-wheel motorbikes.
- Conduct machinery pre-start checks and assist with basic servicing and maintenance.
- Maintain property infrastructure including fencing repairs, straining and basic welding.
- Monitor stock water points and assist with livestock feeding and supplementation when required.
Selection Criteria: - Minimum 1-year full-time livestock experience (either on a family property or with an employer).
- Confident horse rider and capable of mustering using a 2-wheel motorbike.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team with strong communication skills.
- Honest, reliable and motivated with a good work ethic.
Additional Particulars: - Accommodation: Air-conditioned single ensuite rooms with communal kitchen, Wi-Fi and 4G coverage.
- Equipment: Horses used for work (candidates welcome to bring their own if desired).
- Roster: Generally, Monday-Friday, with occasional weekend work during peak mustering periods.
- Licence: Manual driver's licence required; own vehicle recommended for personal use on weekends.
- Lifestyle: Local community events including football, campdrafts and race days in Blackall and Emerald.
- Animals: No dogs permitted.
- Remuneration: Competitive wages plus meal allowance. During large musters, owners often provide meals for the team.
