Our client is a well-established contract shearing company based in Young, NSW, operating three shearing crews across properties in the local region. With a strong reputation and a reliable base team already in place, they are now seeking 2-3 additional Shed Hands / Roustabouts to join their crews. All work is local to the Young area, meaning there is no need for extended travel away from home.
These roles report to the Crew Leader / Contractor and would suit physically fit individuals who are keen to work in a team environment and learn the trade. This is a great opportunity for learners or those with some shed experience who want to build their skills and potentially step up into shearing in the future.
Key Responsibilities & Duties:
Perform general shed hand and roustabout duties including wool pick-up, pressing and maintaining workflow in the shed.
Assist with penning sheep and ensuring each run is completed efficiently.
Finish off runs and support shearers as skills and experience develop.
Maintain correct wool pressing standards and assist in keeping the shed organised and productive.
Selection Criteria:
Willingness to learn, adapt to various shed duties and develop shearing skills over time.
Physically fit with a strong work ethic and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
Positive team player with good communication skills and a friendly attitude.
Current driver's licence and reliable vehicle to travel to and from work.
