Our client is a well-respected, privately owned Australian cattle company operating a large Central Australian cattle station. The property is located approximately 320km from Alice Springs (including around 200km of dirt road), with Alice Springs being the main service centre and Tennant Creek around 300km away. This is a genuine outback role offering a unique remote lifestyle for the right candidate.
The Homestead All-Rounder (often described as a "Girl Friday") plays a key role in keeping the homestead running smoothly, particularly when the owner is away. You will work independently while supporting station operations as needed, reporting directly to the station owner/management.
The role averages around 6 days per week, with typical hours of 7:00am-4:00pm (including a lunch break), plus time allocated to prepare the evening meal. The position is seasonal, starting late February/early March through to mid-December, with the expectation of returning for subsequent seasons.
Key Responsibilities & Duties: - Prepare daily meals for yourself and two station hands, with additional cooking during busy periods.
- Maintain a high standard of cleanliness across homestead buildings, guest rooms and outdoor areas.
- Care for gardens and grounds, including watering, basic weeding and vegetable gardens.
- Assist with animals and station support tasks, including chooks, poddy calves and station store duties.
Selection Criteria: - Physically fit, practical and capable of handling a hands-on role.
- Positive, friendly attitude with the ability to get along well with others.
- Strong commitment to a full-time, remote position.
- Understanding of remote cattle station life (no cattle experience required).
Additional Particulars: - Accommodation provided.
- Starlink internet available.
- Basic stores supplied (no board & keep deducted from wages).
- Own vehicle preferred (4WD not essential).
- Remuneration: $250 per day (negotiable) for singles; couples' rates negotiable based on duties and experience.
