Our client operates a progressive 5,000-hectare irrigated cropping enterprise just outside Emerald in Central Queensland. With cotton, legumes and cereal rotations, the business is focused on operational excellence, stewardship and continual improvement. On-farm accommodation is available (cottage or house), offering a genuine rural lifestyle opportunity within reach of Emerald's services and community.
This role reports directly to the Farm Operations Manager and would suit a practical, mechanically minded individual with experience in irrigated cropping systems—ideally cotton—who is looking to grow within a stable and supportive business. The successful candidate will value teamwork, take direction well and demonstrate initiative in day-to-day operations. Start date is negotiable to secure the right person.
Key Responsibilities & Duties: - Operate and maintain a broad range of farming and earthmoving machinery across cropping operations.
- Assist with the operation, maintenance and ongoing development of irrigation systems.
- Conduct mechanical servicing, troubleshooting and repairs on machinery and equipment.
- Prioritise and complete tasks safely and efficiently as directed by the Farm Operations Manager.
Selection Criteria: - Practical experience with irrigated cropping systems (cotton experience highly regarded).
- Strong mechanical aptitude with proven ability to service and maintain equipment.
- Effective communication skills and ability to work collaboratively within a team.
- Positive attitude, willingness to learn and commitment to safety and continuous improvement.
