Position Title: Nanny / Family Assistant (Academic and Household Support)
Location: Benedict Canyon, Los Angeles, CA
Schedule: Monday-Friday, 12-8pm or 2-8pm
Hours: 30-35 hours/week (open to 40 hours)
Compensation: $30-$40 per hour DOE, plus gas stipend and standard PTO
Start Date: Late December / Early January Start ASAP


Modern Minders is representing a warm, intellectually curious family with two school-aged children, ages 9 and 12. This is a collaborative 50/50 co-parenting arrangement between homes in Benedict Canyon and Venice.
The children are bright, academically capable, emotionally aware, and used to being around engaging, thoughtful adults. The parents value diversity, ambition, emotional intelligence, and intellectual curiosity. The family previously lived in New York, so they love creative and stimulating environments and relationships.
One child has a peanut allergy. Must love dogs, must swim, and have an impeccable driving record. 

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES
Childcare and Emotional Support

• Provide safe, engaged care for two school-aged children
• Maintain clear yet kind boundaries and a calm, confident demeanor
• Support social-emotional development, independence, and good decision-making

Academic Support

• Oversee homework, school projects, and studying
• Help the children stay organized with assignments and deadlines
• Communicate with parents about academic needs or concerns

Family Assistant and Household Support

• Pack and unpack for trips; manage children's suitcases and travel needs
• Run errands, including shopping, returns, and general kid-related tasks
• Maintain organization of children's spaces, school materials, and activity equipment
• Assist with scheduling and logistics for activities and appointments

Driving and Travel

• Drive children to and from activities, appointments, and social events
• Occasionally support evenings when a three-and-a-half-year-old (mother's partner's child) is present
• Travel with the family as needed, particularly for the month of July in East Hampton

IDEAL CANDIDATE PROFILE

• The successful candidate will be decisive, organized, and calm, with the ability to step into appropriate authority, make day-to-day decisions confidently, and be a positive, relatable presence for two older children.
• College degree required
• Significant experience working with school-aged children
• Background in tutoring, teaching, or academic support strongly preferred
• Highly organized with strong executive functioning and follow-through
• Warm, emotionally intelligent, and respectful communicator
• Able to balance being relatable and "cool" with maintaining clear authority
• Comfortable with dogs and with peanut allergy awareness

SCHEDULE AND COMPENSATION

• Monday-Friday, 12-8pm or 2-8pm
• 30-35 hours per week, with the ability to go up to 40 hours for the right fit
• Occasional weekends and evenings with advance notice
• Travel in July to East Hampton and occasional additional travel

Compensation Package:

• $30-$40 per hour, depending on experience
• $100 per week gas stipend
• Two weeks paid vacation
• Five to six paid sick days
• Paid holidays as determined by family schedule and needs
