Weekend & Overnight Caregiver for Young Adult with Autism
 
Overview
We are seeking a dependable, compassionate, and adaptable caregiver to join a dedicated care team supporting a vibrant 26-year-old woman with Autism. This role blends warmth and connection with a high level of professionalism, requiring someone who can bring patience, empathy, and structure while following established care routines and behavioral plans.
The ideal candidate will have a calm yet confident presence, strong follow-through, and the ability to maintain clear boundaries while encouraging independence. This position is both rewarding and highly important — it calls for someone who understands the balance between compassionate care and consistent oversight to ensure safety, stability, and personal growth.
Schedule

• Overnight coverage is required every night of the week.
• Weekend coverage: Saturday and Sunday, 8:00 AM - 9:30 PM (13.5 awake hours per day) plus overnight stay.
• Weekday coverage: Overnight and morning shifts starting between 7:30-8:30 PM and ending between 11:30 AM-12:30 PM the following day.
• The client sleeps through the night; overnight presence is for emergency purposes only — there are no regular awake duties during sleeping hours.
• Position may be split into two roles (weekday overnight coverage and weekend live-in coverage) depending on the right candidate(s).

Overnight Accommodations

• Caregiver sleeps in a guest house on the property with private entry and a shared bathroom.

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain client safety and stability at all times.
• Follow structured routines, care schedules, and behavioral plans designed by the BCBA, care team, and parents.
• Accurately log behaviors and communicate observations with the care team.
• Support adherence to nutritional guidelines.
• Provide medication oversight per established protocols.
• Supervise and prompt all activities of daily living (ADLs), including dressing, eating, showering, hygiene, and household tasks — encouraging independence while ensuring follow-through according to client expectations and visual aids.
  • Client is generally independent but may require oversight to ensure tasks are completed properly.
• Facilitate physical activities such as exercise routines, OT exercises, vigorous walks, gym workouts, and swimming.
• On weekends, drive the client to social meet-ups with peers, appointments, or outings such as hikes and visits to local gardens.
• Model appropriate social skills; experience in social skills coaching is a plus.
• Maintain a clean, organized living space and uphold professional boundaries.

Qualifications

• Prior experience with individuals with autism preferred.
• Ability to swim and participate in active routines with the client.
• Valid driver's license, proof of insurance, and reliable transportation.
• TrustLine certification or completed background check required.
• CPR certification required.
• Strong observational, problem-solving, and communication skills.
• Physically able to engage in walking, exercise, and other active routines.

• Estimated Awake Hours per Week: 38-40 hours
• Compensation: DOE (generous benefits, stipends, and performance bonuses available)
• Hiring Process: Interview with BCBA and lead caregiver prior to meeting with the parent.
