The role
We’re looking for a Sustainability Consultant with around 3 –5 years' experience, or a Senior Sustainability Consultant
with 5+ years' experience, to deliver projects that achieve positive sustainability outcomes while meeting client needs and
fee targets.
You'll work on projects that connect the built environment with nature, biodiversity and natural capital,
not just meeting minimum requirements, but developing nature positive solutions at a wide variety of scales. You'll have
the opportunity to collaborate with our nature and ecology teams, giving our projects a joined -up approach that
differentiates our work and broadens our ability to positively influence the built environment.
Depending on your experience, you’ll be responsible for delivering and managing smaller projects, or specific elements of
larger engineering and sustainability projects. You’ll monitor progress against agreed project aims, report regularly to line
managers, and help ensure projects are delivered effectively.
Our primary purpose is to ensure sustainability is embedded throughout development design and actively enhance.
Responsibilities
Core responsibilities
• Undertake whole life carbon modelling and options
appraisals to interpret outcomes through design
optioneering.
• Develop and apply circular economy strategy and
principles across an array of projects.
• Produce reports including WLC assessments, circular
economy statements, sustainability statements, and other
related planning submissions.
• Manage BREEAM assessments - pre-assessments,
workshops and the certification process, working directly
with clients.
• Manage small-medium projects from start to finish, or
smaller parts of larger projects.
Skills and knowledge
• Whole life carbon - able to carry out assessment and interpret
outcomes, informing design optioneering (desirable at
Consultant level, expected at Senior).
• Circular economy
- understanding of key principles and the
ability to apply them across a range of project types.
• BREEAM
- able to produce pre-assessments, run workshops
and manage the certification process.
• Planning
- working knowledge of the planning process and
associated reporting/documentation requirements.
• Wider understanding of the application of NABERS, the UK
Net Zero Carbon Buildings Standard, and Passivhaus.
• Certified/accredited professional in relevant sustainability rating
systems (e.g. BREEAM, WELL) advantageous
Qualifications
• 3–5 years' experience (Consultant) or 5+ years' experience (Senior Consultant) in a role
with similar responsibilities.
• Relevant tertiary qualification in architecture, consulting, engineering, or a related field.
• Experience delivering projects involving building sustainability design, carbon
assessment, net zero transition and sustainability advisory
• BREEAM Assessor/AP status desirable but not essential.
• Whole life carbon qualification desirable but not essential
