We’re looking for an experienced Planning Lead to join a major, high-value data centre project in London. This is a senior opportunity for a planning professional with strong MEP experience who wants to take ownership of programme development, project controls and progress reporting on a technically complex facility.
Working closely with the Project Manager, planning team, construction teams and external project stakeholders, you’ll play a key role in developing and managing coordinated, deliverable programmes. You’ll have significant involvement in programme strategy, progress measurement, productivity tracking and reporting, with the opportunity to influence project delivery from planning through to completion.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the development of detailed EPC construction schedules for client agreement.
- Manage work sequencing, activity durations, programme logic and critical path.
- Complete schedule health checks before baselining.
- Develop fully resource-loaded programmes and track KPIs.
- Monitor planned versus actual Earned Value (EV) progress.
- Lead and support planning team members.
- Identify and manage issues through appropriate change-control processes.
- Monitor scope growth, budget changes and project performance.
- Track fabrication, workshop production and site installation progress.
- Monitor craft labour productivity through spent versus earned hours.
- Attend internal and client meetings.
- Produce accurate weekly, monthly and periodic project reports.
- Support the Project Manager and wider project team with programme delivery.
- Interrogate and challenge client programmes where appropriate.
- Apply forensic planning and delay analysis where required.
Skills & Experience - Relevant third-level qualification.
- Minimum 6 years’ post-qualification experience, ideally within M&E contracting.
- Minimum 5 years’ Primavera P6 experience.
- Strong understanding of mechanical and electrical systems.
- Experience managing or supporting planning teams.
- Knowledge of forensic planning and delay analysis.
- Strong understanding of programme controls, KPIs and productivity tracking.
- Excellent communication, analytical and organisational skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and regularly visit project locations.
