Rail Project Manager

£65,000 + car/car allowance + bonus
Are you an experienced Rail Project Manager who understands the technical side of electrical engineering but also enjoys the commercial and client-facing side of delivering projects?
We’re looking for an experienced Rail Project Manager to join a company's Manchester operation and take ownership of the operational, financial and customer performance of rail projects.
What will you be responsible for?
You’ll take ownership of individual rail projects, managing everything from scope, resources and budgets through to delivery and customer satisfaction.
- Managing rail projects to ensure they are delivered safely, efficiently and to the required quality standards
- Developing and managing project budgets in line with forecasts and commercial expectations
- Defining project scope and objectives, ensuring technical feasibility and the right resources are in place
- Managing project processes and procedures with a focus on right-first-time delivery
- Reading and interpreting contracts and implementing the appropriate project controls, with support from Commercial and senior management where required
- Proactively managing project costs and identifying opportunities to improve efficiency and profitability
- Building and developing relationships with existing and prospective rail clients
- Identifying new rail opportunities, producing quotations and progressing opportunities through to tender
- Leading and developing project teams, setting clear objectives and creating a strong performance culture
- Driving high standards of safety, quality and continuous improvement
- Ensuring operational activities are delivered in accordance with company HV and LV Safety Rules
- Maintaining health & safety standards in line with company policies and relevant legislation
Criteria of the Project Manager: - 5+ years' relevant experience managing rail projects
- Detailed knowledge of the HV/LV electrical engineering services industry and associated markets
- A recognised electrical qualification at NVQ Level 3 or above
- IOSH and/or SMSTS Health & Safety for Managers
- Previous experience developing, leading and managing project teams
- Strong commercial awareness, including project budgets, forecasting and cost management
- Excellent people management skills with the ability to lead, motivate and develop teams
- Strong customer and stakeholder management skills
- The confidence to identify opportunities, develop client relationships and contribute to tendering and business growth
