Sales & Tendering Engineer – Multi-Utilities
Northampton or Yorkshire -  Hybrid
£50,000 + £5,500 Vehicle Allowance 

If you understand utilities but also enjoy the commercial side of engineering, this is an opportunity to use both.

We’re looking for a Sales & Tendering Engineer to join an established and growing utilities business, producing competitive, technically robust tenders across electricity, gas, water, telecoms and EV infrastructure.

Rather than simply pricing work, you’ll get involved in understanding what the client needs, developing the technical solution, identifying risk and building a proposal that gives the business the best opportunity to secure the project.

What will you be responsible for?

• Manage tenders from initial enquiry through to submission and, when successful, ensure a smooth handover into the Design tea, this will include producing tender designs, estimates and proposals, reviewing project requirements and making sure submissions are commercially accurate, compliant and delivered on time
• Speak directly with customers, provide technical advice and attend meetings where required, so you’ll need to be as comfortable communicating with people as you are working through the detail of a tender
• Work closely with the wider Sales and Tendering team, proactively identify commercial and project risks, maintain accurate tender and handover documentation and contribute towards individual and wider business sales targets.

What experience would make you a good fit?

We’re looking for someone with previous tendering, estimating or technical sales experience within utilities, construction or engineering. Multi-utility experience would be particularly valuable, alongside an understanding of MEICA, utility construction or transmission and distribution networks.

• You should be confident producing accurate quotations and have a good understanding of CDM Regulations 2015 and design development
• Experience with AutoCAD, Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Microsoft Project will be useful, alongside strong organisation, client relationship and project management skills
• An NVQ Level 3 or equivalent qualification/experience within engineering, construction, technical sales or management is expected MIET status, a relevant degree, project management experience and Trimble knowledge would be advantageous but aren’t essential
