Technical Engineer (Gas)
Remote with UK site visits
£75,000 + mileage
The role We’re looking for an experienced Technical Engineer to join the metering division of a leading infrastructure business. This is a key technical role supporting the delivery of safe, compliant and commercially successful industrial and commercial gas metering projects, with a particular focus on HP and IP metering systems (>2 bar).
You’ll provide technical leadership across projects, from design and costing through to installation and maintenance, whilst acting as the technical authority for >2 bar metering and as an SCO Authorising Engineer.
Responsibilities of the Technical Engineer:
- Lead the delivery of HP and IP gas meter installations and exchanges, ensuring projects are delivered safely, on time and within budget
- Provide technical advice, approve designs and solutions, and support technical investigations and non-conformances
- Ensure compliance with PSSR 2000, IGEM standards, Gas Safe requirements and company governance
- Prepare cost plans and customer quotations and support the development of future HP/IP work
- Manage relationships with customers, contractors, suppliers and key stakeholders
- Prepare and oversee RAMS, lifting plans and other H&S documentation
- Support asset inspection and maintenance programmes and out-of-hours emergency cover
- Provide technical leadership, mentoring and coaching to engineers and contractors
Criteria for the Technical Engineer: - IEng or CEng accreditation with IGEM
- Strong knowledge of PSSR 2000 and relevant IGEM standards
- I&C metering accreditations and Gas Safe Register registration
- Experience within the natural gas industry, ideally metering or distribution
- Contractor management experience and CDM awareness
