Pre-Contract Commercial Manager
South West & South Wales - Regional Travel Required - Electricity Transmission

You’ll be part of a forward-thinking business that designs, builds and commissions substations up to 400kV and constructs and maintains the transmission assets that keep energy flowing reliably across the country. What you’ll be doing
As a Pre-Contract Commercial Manager, you’ll lead the commercial activities that underpin successful project delivery, managing multiple tender opportunities at once and working collaboratively with colleagues, partners and clients.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Leading pre-tender due diligence and negotiating terms that balance governance, profitability and risk mitigation.
- Reviewing and refining contract terms, warranties and guarantees and resolving any deviations with clients.
- Preparing commercial summaries to support internal approvals and presenting at tender reviews.
- Working closely with legal teams and clients to ensure clarity, compliance and strong commercial positioning.
- Supporting bid development, assessing risks and shaping mitigation strategies.
- Managing post-award commercial appraisals and ensuring smooth handover into delivery teams.
- Maintaining accurate documentation and upholding company policies.
- Contributing to high standards in Health & Safety, Quality and Environmental performance.

What you’ll bring: - A relevant degree-level qualification.
- Excellent communication, negotiation and presentation skills.
- Strong working knowledge of NEC and FIDIC forms of contract, plus related contract law.
- Ability to manage deadlines and handle multiple priorities.
- Strong commercial awareness and experience in pre-contract negotiations.
- Previous experience as a Pre-Contract Manager, Pre-Construction. Manager, Commercial Manager or similar.
- Ability to analyse complex tender documentation and pricing schedules.
- Knowledge of the electricity transmission sector (desirable).
- Relationship-building and influencing skills.
- Full UK driving licence, with willingness to travel to sites and regional offices.
