Streetlighting Design Engineer
Fully remote
£50,000 + package

We’re looking for a talented and experienced Streetlighting Designer to join a busy and growing team based in the North West. If you’re passionate about creating innovative lighting designs for a variety of projects, from private developments and new build schemes to highway lighting renewals, this could be the perfect next step for you.

In this role, you’ll work closely with developers and local authorities to understand project requirements, produce accurate quotations, and ensure designs meet all necessary standards and approvals. Your expertise in cable calculations, schematic diagrams, and LV network knowledge will be essential to your success.

Responsibilities of the Streetlighting Design Engineer:

• Collaborating with developers to define the scope and prepare detailed design quotations
• Creating lighting designs for new and existing schemes using specialist software
• Producing supporting documentation such as cable calculations and schematic diagrams
• Liaising with local authorities to gain design approval and carry out lighting assessments
• Providing expert advice on existing lighting issues and network supplies
• Keeping up to date with relevant standards including BS 5489 and BS 7671 wiring regulations

Criteria for the Streetlighting Design Engineer:

• ILP Exterior Lighting Diploma (modules 1-4) and current ILP membership
• Proven experience designing lighting contracts and working with highway or private lighting schemes
• Strong understanding of DNO and IDNO LV networks
• Proficiency in AutoCAD, Microsoft Office, and lighting design software
• Full driving licence for site visits
• Familiarity with G39 regulations and ability to visually identify lanterns and components is highly desirable
