NERS Assessing Officer

Fourblue has partnered with a leading UK-based electrical contractor, who focus on high and low voltage infrastructure and deliver a wide range of services, including Engineering, Procurement & Construction (EPC), Independent Connection Provider (ICP) works, and renewable energy solutions. With a track record of over 800MW of completed projects, we are committed to providing innovative and efficient electrical solutions across various sectors.
  
They are looking for an experienced Assessing Officer to join the team. This is a hands-on role within a dynamic, growing company with an order book running into 2027, covering projects such as ICP connections, private networks, renewable energy connections, and water upgrade systems.
  
You will be responsible for assessing and mentoring staff, ensuring all competencies remain current, and managing the company's NERS Passport scheme. This is a highly varied role for someone who enjoys wearing multiple hats, getting involved in practical work, and has experience up to 33kV.
  
Responsibilities of the NERS Assessing Officer:

• Assessing competence of personnel working on behalf of the company
• Maintaining and reviewing competency records annually
• Mentoring staff seeking to become trained and experienced within the scheme
• Managing the NERS Passport scheme and ensuring all relevant records are up to date
• Ensuring knowledge of Health and Safety legislation, British Standards, and utility codes of practice
• Keeping up to date with variations between different NOs and briefing staff accordingly
• Acting as Technical Advisor for Project Management scopes where required

  
Criteria for the NERS Assessing Officer:

• Experience working with ICPs, DNOs, or IDNOs
• Hands-on experience up to 33kV
• Strong knowledge of safe working practices, operational procedures, and relevant legislation
• Ability and enthusiasm to get stuck into practical work and multiple responsibilities
