Fourblue have teamed up with a well-established utility contractor with a strong reputation for delivering high-quality, sustainable infrastructure solutions across the UK. With a proven track record in electricity, gas, water, and multi-utility projects, they pride themselves on combining technical expertise with a customer-focused approach. Due to continued growth, they are now seeking an ICP Electrical Designer to join their expanding design team.
In this role, you will be responsible for producing quotations, developing adoptable designs, and securing design approvals for projects ranging from low voltage up to 11kV/20kV. This position offers the opportunity to work on a variety of challenging and rewarding projects, collaborating with stakeholders across the industry to deliver safe, cost-effective, and efficient design solutions.
Responsibilities of the Electrical Design Engineer:
- Designing adoptable networks from low voltage up to and including 11kV/20kV
- Producing calculations using WinDebut software
- Specifying substation switchgear and associated equipment
- Assessing and reviewing substation earthing designs
- Preparing and submitting design documents in line with DNO/IDNO/ENA G81 standards
- Supporting the assessment of EV schemes to CPO requirements
- Producing design plans and single line diagrams using AutoCAD
- Coordinating land rights activities and tracking progress
- Supporting both design and construction teams with technical input
- Liaising with clients, CPOs, DNOs, IDNOs, and other external stakeholders
- Managing design handovers to the construction department
- Maintaining accurate technical data, design trackers, and business systems
- Attending client and internal meetings when required
- Delivering cost-effective outline designs for tendering purposes and ensuring prompt DNO approvals
- Managing projects from mobilisation through to completion within budget and agreed timescales
Criteria for the Electrical Design Engineer: - HNC/HND in electrical engineering or equivalent experience
- Strong knowledge of ENA Engineering Recommendation G81 and related standards
- Proven experience in DNO/IDNO design approvals
- Proficiency in WinDebut software
- Knowledge of substation earthing assessments (formal software training beneficial but not essential)
- Familiarity with AutoCAD preferred
