We are currently seeking a High Voltage (HV) Authorised Person to join a major engineering contractor working on critical infrastructure projects across Europe. This role involves managing the safe operation of high voltage systems and working under a formal Authorisation in accordance with electrical safety rules. The position is based on a 17/4 rotation (17 days on, 4 days off), with travel and accommodation fully covered.

Key Responsibilities:

• Conduct switching operations on HV systems within your authorised limits
• Plan, apply, and maintain isolations in line with company safety procedures
• Prepare, issue, and cancel HV Safety Documents (e.g. Permit to Work, Sanction for Test)
• Supervise Competent Persons and working parties involved in HV activities
• Carry out “prove dead” testing and ensure proper earthing practices
• Ensure work areas are clearly identified and demarcated for HV operations
• Liaise closely with the Control Engineer for safe release and restoration of systems
• Lead risk assessments and support safe system of work documentation
• Identify and escalate safety concerns, system defects, or breaches in compliance

Requirements:

• Recognised electrical qualification and HV trade background
• Formal HV AP training and written appointment by an Authorising Engineer
• Strong understanding of HV switching, isolation, and safety procedures (up to 33kV or higher)
• Experience working under electrical safety rules and with safety documentation (e.g. EN 50110-1)
• Proven ability to supervise and manage teams safely and effectively
