Ground Works Land Design is seeking an Irrigation Apprentice for our sister company, Irrigation Works and Lighting. In this role, you will learn to install, maintain, and repair irrigation systems for residential and commercial properties. No prior experience is required-this is a great on-the-job training opportunity where you will develop skills and gain hands-on experience working with irrigation systems. Irrigation Apprentice Pay Range: $18.00 - $22.00 an hour contingent on experience

Tentative start date for Position: March 3, 2025

Working Hours:

In Season Hours: 8am - 5pm Monday- Friday, occasional late night and Saturday work as needed.
Winter Hours: 24/7 on call for snow removal, shop/project work as applicable, minimum 25 hours/week

Duties/Responsibilities:

Learn to install, maintain, and repair irrigation systems, including timers, valves, sprinklers, and pumps.
Assist with routine inspections of systems to ensure they are functioning properly and efficiently.
Troubleshoot and learn to repair any malfunctions or breakdowns in irrigation systems.
Adjust and reprogram irrigation schedules based on weather conditions, plant needs, and system performance.
Follow water management practices to minimize water waste and maximize system efficiency.
Assist with seasonal start-ups, winterization, and spring activations of irrigation systems.
Deliver excellent customer service by explaining system functions and maintenance needs.
Maintain accurate records of services performed and parts used on the job.
Collaborate with landscaping and maintenance teams to ensure seamless project execution.
Perform all other duties as assigned while learning the ins and outs of the irrigation trade.

Qualifications / Experience:

Valid driver's license and clean driving record in the last 3 years required
1 or more years of experience in irrigation installation and maintenance is preferred.
Willing to learn about irrigation systems, including controllers, pumps, and various types of sprinkler heads.
Familiarity with water conservation practices is beneficial.
Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills (training will be provided).
Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality work.
Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

Physical Requirements:

Ability to lift or move up to 50 lbs.
Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions and terrain.
Willingness to stand, bend, kneel, and perform physical tasks for extended periods.
