An exciting opportunity has arisen for an
Southern Manager to lead and develop the south office. This role combines technical leadership, operational management and business development responsibility.
The successful candidate will be responsible for driving regional growth, managing project delivery, maintaining quality standards and ensuring commercial performance. This is a senior-level role suited to someone who thrives in a leadership position and enjoys balancing technical oversight with commercial strategy.
Due to growth we are seeking a candidate that has at least 10 Years Relevant Ground Investigation/Construction Experience.
Key Responsibilities
Business Development & Growth - Identify and convert new business opportunities
- Develop and maintain strong client relationships
- Turn leads into secured projects and expand regional presence
- Contribute to regional strategy and revenue targets.
- This role is accountable for the delivery of ground investigation services, in particular associated with the Southern area office.
- The role includes preparation of tenders, technical and financial project management and participating in business development.
- Leading and managing the office rig and personnel programme ensuring full utilization of these resources.
- The role also has specific responsibilities for developing the Southern Office, including recruitment of suitable staff and actively pursuing business development opportunities to grow the Southern office.
- The key performance indicators will be set in conjunction with the UK Contracts Director, UK Operations Director and Managing Director on an annual basis.
- As a guideline the Southern Manager is expected to ensure that all projects are carried out to a high standard, on time and within budget.
- It is also expected that the person will highlight new business opportunities and develop relationship with new clients.
Operational & Office Management - Run and manage the South office
- Oversee workload planning, resource allocation and performance
- Ensure projects are delivered on time and within budget
- Maintain high standards of quality assurance and compliance
- Expected to create an inspiring team environment with an open communication culture, inline with the philosophy and cultural message directed by the senior management team.
- Key division of time spent on each part of the job will be set on an annual basis and reviewed regularly.
- You will be responsible for management and recruitment of staff within the Southern office
Technical & Project Oversight - Provide senior technical input on geoenvironmental/geotechnical projects
- Review and sign off reports to ensure technical accuracy
- Maintain compliance with UK standards and regulatory guidance
- Uphold strong health & safety practices
Team Leadership - Lead, mentor and develop technical staff
- Manage performance and support career progression

Candidate Requirements - Degree qualified in Geology, Geoenvironmental Engineering or related discipline
- Strong background in geoenvironmental and/or geotechnical consultancy
- Proven experience in report writing and technical review
- Demonstrable business development experience with ability to convert leads
- Experience managing teams or running an office/region
- Strong commercial awareness and financial oversight capability
- Excellent organisational skills with ability to meet strict deadlines
