PIMS are seeking applications from an experienced, qualified Water Treatment Plant Operator for the operation of the Water Treatment Plant at Appin Mine in the Illawarra Coalfields.

We are currently seeking applications from an experienced Water Treatment Plant Operator for our project at Appin Mine in the Illawarra region.
We are currently looking for operators with a Mechanical trade background.
To be successful with your application you must have the following skills and qualifications:
Desirable to hold a Mechanical trade qualification.
Operational exposure in industrial water plants with chemical handling experience
Basic knowledge of water chemistry
Demonstrated data reporting, analytical and problem-solving skills
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Demonstrated commitment to safety, health, the environment and community
Accountabilities for this role include:
Interface with Water Treatment Plant control systems (SCADA and RS view) to operate water treatment plants and sub systems, meeting production profiles and water quality in line with EPA set limits and mine production profile
Respond to and remedy plant systems in accordance with procedures. Analyse water samples to detect deviations from set specifications, investigate causes of abnormal water quality results and make corrects to rectify variances.
Oversee water quality monitoring equipment for proper functioning
Complete inspections and carry out basic maintenance on water treatment plant equipment.
Maintain safe working practices at all times including management and handling of hazardous chemicals. Monitor transportation and storage of flammable and other potentially dangerous products
Maintain adherence to South 32 procedures and policies at all times. Escalate issues as required in line with Illawarra Event reporting standards and systems.
Participate and provide information for investigations and risk assessments as directed by the supervisor.
Maintain plant documentation, inclusive of shift reports and work order documentation.
Complete work (time confirm) and raise notifications for corrective work required in computerised maintenance system (SAP) Identify improvements in plant operating areas working closely with line supervisor.
Liaise with external contractors including waste management, chemical suppliers.
Liaise with South 32 internal departments such as Appin mine control and maintenance.
