PIMS Group is an experienced underground mining contractor specialising in underground coal projects across Queensland and New South Wales.
As part of our growth and ongoing commitment to excellence, we are seeking an experienced and qualified Capenter and Maintenance Plumber/ Gas Fitter to join our Township Maintenance Services team in Tieri.
About the Role - Carpenter
Based in Tieri, you will play a key role in maintaining residential and commercial facilities within the township. You’ll deliver quality carpentry solutions with a focus on safety and compliance. Responsibilities will include:
Performing routine maintenance, inspections, and repairs on buildings & structures
Completing framing, formwork, decking and cladding to a high standard
Ensuring all work is completed to Australian Building Codes and Industry Standards
Ensuring and maintaining a safe, clean, and compliant work environment
Progression opportunities: After 18 – 24 months of good service, tradespersons wishing to transition to a Glencore mine site position will be supported
The Successful Candidate
We’re looking for professionals who are committed, reliable, and take pride in their trade. The minimum skills and expectations for this role are but not limited to:
An Australian recognised trade qualification (Certificate III in Carpentry)
General Safety Induction (Construction Industry White Card)
Valid Manual Driver’s Licence
Licence to erect, alter and dismantle scaffolding (CPCCLSF2001A) (desirable)
Work Safely at Height (RIIWHS204D) (desirable)
Minimum 2 years of Carpentry experience (residential, commercial, or industrial)
Strong problem solving skills and attention to detail
Excellent communication and a strong customer focus
Ability to work independently and within a team
A strong understanding of WHS standards and safe work methods
Full Australian working rights or permanent residency
Carpenters do not need to complete the Plumber screening questions unless ad does not all applicant to post without completing. If so replace years experience of Plumbing answer Carpentery
About the Role - Plumber / Gas Fitter
Based in Tieri, you will play a key role in maintaining plumbing systems for residential and commercial facilities within the township. You’ll deliver quality plumbing solutions with a focus on safety and compliance. Responsibilities will include:
- Diagnosing and resolving plumbing issues (leaks, blockages, fixture installations)
- Routine maintenance, inspections, and system checks
- Gas fitting and repairs (where qualified - not essential)
- Ensuring all work is completed to Australian Plumbing Standards
- Ensuring and maintaining a safe, clean, and compliant work environment
- 9 Day fortnight roster – week 1 (Mon to Fri, 1pm finish on Fri) and week 2 (Mon to Thurs, 4.30pm finish on Thurs

- Commission and Maintain Backflow Prevention Devices Certificate CPCPWT4022A (desirable)
- Minimum 2 years of plumbing experience (residential, commercial, or industrial)
- Maintenance plumbing and roofing experience (essential)
- Strong problem solving skills and attention to detail
- Excellent communication and a strong customer focus
- Ability to work independently and within a team
- A strong understanding of WHS standards and safe work methods
- Full Australian working rights or permanent residency
About Tieri Applicants are strongly encouraged to relocate to the Township of Tieri, (1 hour North-east of Emerald),
Applicants – have the option to be accommodated in;
Camp accommodation,
Share house accommodation or
Have their own house (3 or 4 Bedroom house) under a general tenancy agreement, (heavily subsided rent for houses starts at only $100 per week, with rental reductions on satisfactory performance over next 2 calendar years, dropping to a final rent of $15.50 per week),
