About the role:
We have an exciting opportunity for a part-time Court Support Practitioner. Reporting to the Service Delivery Coordinator you will offer our clients high quality services including crisis intervention, court support, DVO assistance, safety planning, counselling, intake support, and community education and awareness within the framework of Centacare Family and Relationship Services (CFRS) mission, values and vision.
Key responsibilities:
- Assisting clients to understand Court processes, providing support within the Court room including support to understand the Magistrate and the interpretation of legal wording.
- Conducting risk assessments and making appropriate referrals including Domestic and Family Violence specialist support, legal advice and other support services as required.
- Working closely with all Court stakeholders to ensure safety.
Skills and Experience: - Relevant tertiary qualifications in Social Work, Psychology, Social or Behavioural Science from a recognised institution (including eligibility for membership of APS, AASW, PACFA or ACA) are essential for this position.
- Well-developed understanding of the Domestic and Family Violence Act, Child Protection Act and Family Law Act, as well as the issues and the impacts on families engaged in these systems.
- Ability to demonstrate a well-developed practice framework for domestic and family violence and the implications of child safety, family law and mental health.
- Experience in intake, risk assessment, case management and referral pathways crisis intervention, Domestic Violence Order assistance and safety planning.
- Well-developed written work including report writing, case notes, data collection, data entry and computer literacy skills.
- Highly effective communication with strong interpersonal skills and an ability to advocate for our clients’ needs with other statutory organisations and departments.
- Have a high degree of professionalism and integrity in working with clients, colleagues, and community stakeholders.
- Ability to support and work with diverse families with complex needs.
- Knowledge, skills and experience in the provision of brief solution-focused counselling for women impacted by domestic and family violence.
Essential requirements for the role: - Relevant Tertiary qualifications are essential.
- Have a current Blue Card – or be eligible to apply.
- Have a current driver’s licence.
- Provide a current Australian Federal Police Criminal History Check or successfully pass one.
- Right to work in Australia.
