St Peter’s Catholic Primary School OSHC is seeking a motivated and experienced Assistant Coordinator & Educational Leader to join our team. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced educator or Responsible Person looking to develop their leadership capabilities, support a dedicated team and contribute to the ongoing success of our service.
Licensed for up to 135 children, our service operates Before School Care from 6:30am–8:30am, After School Care from 3:00pm–6:00pm and Vacation Care from 7:00am–6:00pm.
Working closely with the Service Coordinator, you'll help lead daily operations, support and mentor educators, and contribute to a high-quality educational program that reflects children's interests, learning and development.
As the Educational Leader, you'll receive an additional two hours each week dedicated to supporting educational program development, guiding educator practice, strengthening reflective practice and driving continuous improvement across the service.

Key Responsibilities
Assistant Coordinator Responsibilities
- Support the Service Coordinator with the day-to-day operations and effective management of the service.
- Assist with staff rostering, supervision, mentoring and team development.
- Support administrative duties and service documentation.
- Help deliver a high-quality, inclusive and engaging educational program.
- Create and maintain a safe, secure, welcoming and nurturing environment for all children.
- Build positive relationships with children, families, school staff and colleagues.
- Work collaboratively with the Coordinator and educator team to achieve positive outcomes for children and families.
- Act as the Responsible Person when required, including in the Coordinator's absence.
- Support the Coordinator in building a strong, collaborative and motivated team.
Educational Leader Responsibilities - Lead and support the development, implementation and documentation of the educational program.
- Guide and mentor educators to strengthen their programming, planning and educational practices.
- Promote ongoing reflective practice and encourage educators to reflect on and improve their work.
- Support the development, implementation and ongoing review of the service's Quality Improvement Plan (QIP).
- Encourage inclusive, child-centred experiences that support children's learning, wellbeing and development.
- Promote continuous improvement and ensure educational practices align with the National Quality Framework and My Time, Our Place framework.
- Use the additional two allocated hours each week to focus on educational leadership, program development and educator support.
What You'll Bring - Diploma in Children's Services or an ACECQA-approved equivalent qualification.
- Previous experience in OSHC or a similar education and care setting, with leadership experience highly regarded.
- Current Queensland Working with Children Check (Blue Card).
- Current First Aid, CPR, Asthma and Anaphylaxis qualifications.
- Current Child Protection Training, as required for the role.
- Knowledge of the National Quality Framework, My Time, Our Place framework, and relevant National Law and Regulations.
- Understanding of educational programming, documentation, reflective practice and continuous improvement.
- Confident computer skills, with experience using childcare management software such as Xplor highly regarded.
- Strong communication, organisation and interpersonal skills.
- The ability to lead, mentor and support educators while building positive relationships with children, families and the school community.
