Parish Secretary
Location: Holland Park Mount Gravatt Parish, Brisbane QLD
Employment Type: Permanent Part-Time (20 hours per week on-site)
Work Hours: Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday from 9am - 2pm.

About the Role
An exciting opportunity exists for an organised and professional Parish Secretary to join the Holland Park Mount Gravatt Parish team.
Working closely with the Parish Priest and parish community, you will provide administrative and operational support to assist in the smooth and effective functioning of the parish. This varied role encompasses reception, communications, records management, financial administration, volunteer coordination, and support for parish sacramental and pastoral activities.
This position is ideal for someone who enjoys working in a community-focused environment and takes pride in delivering high-quality administrative support.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide reception and administrative support to parishioners, visitors, volunteers, and clergy
- Manage parish correspondence, records, databases, and documentation
- Coordinate sacramental administration, including baptisms, weddings, funerals, and parish registers
- Prepare newsletters, communications, and parish notices
- Process invoices, banking, reconciliations, and maintain financial records
- Coordinate parish facility bookings and support parish events and activities
- Liaise with schools, Archdiocesan departments, contractors, and external stakeholders
- Assist with safeguarding, WHS, insurance, and compliance administration
- Support the Parish Priest with meeting preparation and general office coordination
- Maintain confidentiality and professionalism in all interactions
About You To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate:
- Previous experience in an administrative, clerical, or office support role
- Strong organisational and time-management skills
- Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills
- High attention to detail and the ability to manage competing priorities
- Sound computer skills, including Microsoft Office applications
- The ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise discretion
- A collaborative and service-focused approach to work
- An understanding of, and respect for, the mission and values of the Catholic Church
- A current Blue Card and National Criminal History Check, or the ability to obtain these requirements
