The Finance & Accounting team provides expert financial management, reporting, and business partnering services that support the mission and operations of the Catholic Archdiocese of Brisbane. Working closely with clergy, senior leaders, and key stakeholders, the team helps ensure sound financial stewardship, informed decision-making, and strong governance across a diverse range of ministries and entities.
About the Role
Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, the Business Partner - Clergy, Provincial and Religious Foundations provides high-level financial management, reporting, budgeting, and business partnering support across a diverse portfolio of Catholic Foundations, Trusts, and Councils.
This role works closely with senior leaders, Councils, Committees, clergy, and other stakeholders to provide financial insights, support informed decision-making, ensure compliance with governance requirements, and drive continuous improvement in financial processes.

Key Responsibilities
Business Partnering & Financial Support
- Provide financial advice and commercial insights to business leaders.
- Analyse financial performance and present meaningful commentary on results.
- Develop financial reports, forecasts, and business cases.
- Support Councils and Committees with financial information and recommendations.
- Assist stakeholders with budgeting and financial planning activities.
Financial Management & Reporting - Prepare and review monthly financial reports and reconciliations.
- Manage budgeting, forecasting, and month-end reporting processes.
- Process journals, accruals, and prepayments.
- Support year-end financial statements and external audit requirements.
- Monitor revenue streams and cost recovery processes.
Compliance & Governance - Ensure compliance with financial controls, policies, and procedures.
- Prepare information required for BAS, FBT, and statutory reporting obligations.
- Support governance and risk management requirements across the portfolio.
Systems & Continuous Improvement - Identify opportunities to improve financial processes and reporting.
- Support system enhancements and automation initiatives.
- Contribute to organisational efficiency and best-practice financial management.
About You To be successful in this role, you will bring:
- Postgraduate qualifications in Business, Accounting, Commerce, or a related discipline.
- Current professional membership with CPA Australia or CA ANZ.
- Demonstrated experience in a senior financial management or business partnering role.
- Strong budgeting, forecasting, reporting, and financial analysis skills.
- Experience presenting financial information to senior stakeholders and governance bodies.
- Excellent communication and relationship-building abilities.
- Strong attention to detail, discretion, and organisational skills.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel and financial systems experience.
- A proactive approach to problem-solving and continuous improvement.
- The ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with diverse stakeholders.
- Have a current paid Blue Card and Police Check (or willingness to obtain)
