An opportunity now exists for a Casual Funeral Director’s Assistant to join our North Brisbane team.
About the Role
As a Funeral Director’s Assistant, you will support the Funeral Director and team in delivering professional and well-organised funeral services. The role requires maturity, compassion and a high standard of presentation.
This position includes participation in an after-hours roster and therefore requires residence within 30 minutes of the Funeral Home.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist at funeral services and memorials
- Provide practical support to families and attendees
- Drive funeral vehicles (Hearses and Transfer Van)
- Transfer deceased persons from hospitals, nursing homes and residences
- Maintain vehicles and presentation standards
- Assist with audio and visual systems in churches and chapels
- Participate in after-hours transfer roster
- Undertake manual handling and lifting
About You To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate:

- Strong time management skills
- Ability to adapt to different venues and systems
- Capacity to work independently and within a team
You will also:
- Hold a current unrestricted driver’s licence
- Live within 30 minutes of the Funeral Home
- Hold or be eligible to obtain a Blue Card
- Be willing to undertake a National Police Check
Previous experience in the funeral industry is desirable but not essential. Full training will be provided.
The successful candidate will also need to submit to a national criminal history/police check, possess a current Working with Children Blue Card.
