About the Role
Springfield Parish is seeking a motivated and engaging Parish Youth Coordinator to support and grow youth ministry within the parish.
The role focuses on building positive relationships with young people aged 12 to 17, coordinating youth programs and activities and supporting their personal and faith development in a safe, inclusive and engaging environment. The Parish Youth Coordinator works collaboratively with parish leadership, volunteers and local schools to deliver youth initiatives aligned with the parish's mission and values.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and coordinate a regular parish youth group incorporating faith, social connection and community engagement
- Develop and maintain an annual youth ministry activity calendar
- Build positive and respectful relationships with young people, families, parish staff and volunteers
- Establish and support a Parish Youth Ministry Team
- Coordinate youth focused liturgies and activities in collaboration with parish leaders
- Promote youth ministry activities through appropriate communication channels including social media
- Liaise with local schools and community groups to support youth engagement
- Advocate for the needs of young people within parish planning and activities
- Ensure all activities comply with Archdiocesan policies, child safety standards and workplace health and safety requirements
- Participate in supervision, training and professional development as required
About You You will bring:
- Experience working with young people in a youth, education, community or ministry setting
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- The ability to work independently and manage competing priorities
- A collaborative approach to working with volunteers and parish stakeholders
- An understanding of safeguarding responsibilities when working with children and young people
- Flexibility to work hours that may include evenings or occasional weekends
Relevant qualifications or training in youth work, ministry or a related field are desirable but not essential.
