Parish Finance Services partners with parishes to provide tailored financial solutions, strengthen governance, and promote ethical and consistent financial practices aligned with the Archdiocesan Code of Conduct.
About the Role:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Accounts Payable Officer to join our Parish Finance Services team. In this role, you will be responsible for end-to-end accounts payable processing for multiple parish customers, ensuring accurate, timely, and compliant financial transactions.
This position is ideal for someone who enjoys working in a collaborative environment, managing multiple priorities, and contributing to strong financial controls and service delivery. This is a hands-on role suited to someone who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple parish customers and ensuring accurate and timely processing of payments.
Key Responsibilities
- Process medium volumes of supplier invoices and credit notes, ensuring accurate coding and approval through MYOB Exo
- Perform weekly and ad hoc payment runs for Parish Finance Services customers
- Manage the Parish Finance Services support inbox and respond to queries
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date accounts payable records
- Respond to internal and external vendor inquiries and resolve payment issues promptly
- Assist with month-end closing activities and reporting
- Track payments, approvals, and expenditure
- Ensure compliance with internal controls, accounting policies, and statutory obligations
About You: You will bring strong attention to detail, sound accounting knowledge, and a positive, can-do attitude. You are organised, reliable, and able to work both independently and as part of a supportive team.
Essential Skills and Experience: - Proven experience in an accounts payable or similar finance role
- Strong knowledge of accounts payable processes and basic accounting principles
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail
- Well-developed organisational and time-management skills
- Confident written and verbal communication skills
- Intermediate Microsoft Excel skills
- Experience with accounting systems (MYOB Exo desirable but not essential)
- Excellent interpersonal and problem-solving skills
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
Compliance Requirements: The successful applicant must be able to obtain and maintain:
- A current Blue Card
- Criminal history checks (including Australian Federal Police check)
- Evidence of the right to work in Australia
