Parish Leadership Coach
Employment Type: Full-time, Permanent (with the possibility of part-time for the right candidate). Possible option for WFH flexibility in the future once trained. Due to the nature of the role, some weekend work or afternoon/evening work required aligned with Parish needs.
Remuneration: Competitive salary in line with the Archdiocesan pay scale.

About the Role
Archdiocesan Ministries, the Archdiocesan agency dedicated to the mission of the Church, is seeking a dynamic and visionary leader to join our Parish Leadership team. Our mission is to work with, inspire, and empower the Archdiocese of Brisbane to encounter Jesus and live the joy of the Gospel, drawing strongly from Pope Francis' Evangelii Gaudium. As a key member of our Parish Leadership team, you will play a pivotal role in helping parishes grow as vibrant communities of missionary disciples.
Role Objectives
This leadership role has three core objectives:
- Work with parishes seeking to engage in a synodal and strategic pastoral planning process aimed at fostering missionary discipleship.
- Coach parish priests and parish leaders as they seek to build flourishing, synodal parishes of missionary disciples.
- Contribute to building a culture of continual growth, development and synodality within parish communities.
Key Responsibilities - Partner with mission-oriented parishes to create strategic plans that foster growth and discipleship.
- Coach parish priests and leaders implementing a strategic plan to support decision-making aligned with their mission, vision and values.
- Build and sustain a culture of leadership development, with a focus on succession planning and growth within parishes.
- Offer ongoing formation and strategic guidance to Parish Pastoral Councils and Leadership Teams.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with clergy and parish leaders, ensuring alignment with the Archdiocese’s mission and values.
About You You are a passionate and mission-driven leader who is committed to the values and teachings of the Catholic Church. You bring significant experience in leadership within a Church context, with a proven track record in strategic planning and development. You have a heart for evangelisation and a desire to see parishes thrive as centres of missionary discipleship.
Selection Criteria - Undergraduate qualification in theology, philosophy, education, liberal arts, or business administration (with a focus on leadership/change management preferred).
- Demonstrated experience in coaching, supported by completion of a recognised coaching course or certification.
- Highly regarded experience working with leaders within the Catholic Church.
- In-depth knowledge of ecclesial structures and parish dynamics within the Catholic Church.
- Demonstrated ability to facilitate strategic planning and leadership development.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with experience in facilitation, presentation, and writing.
- Excellent organisational skills with a keen attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines.
- Deep commitment to the mission of the Catholic Church in Brisbane.
