Centacare is seeking an experienced and visionary leader to join our Quality, Risk and Governance Unit (QRGU) as the Head of Assurance Processes. This is a senior leadership role responsible for driving high-quality assurance frameworks, designing and overseeing the delivery of the internal audit program and supporting operational self assessment practices that that support and understanding of current state governance, risk management, compliance across the organisation. The position reports directly to the Director of Quality, Risk, and Governance.
You will play a critical role in supporting Centacare’s strategic priorities by embedding practical and effective assurance mechanisms across service delivery teams, ensuring our business practices and client-centred care mechanisms remain effective.
About the Role
As the Head of Assurance Processes, you will:
- Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing Assurance team.
- Design, maintain and implement Centacare’s Assurance Map and Annual Assurance Plan.
- Manage the outsourced Internal Audit function, ensuring alignment with strategic risk and compliance requirements.
- Oversee the delivery of spot check audits, risk control testing, and follow-up actions.
- Provide strategic insights and guidance to senior leadership, including Council and subcommittees, on internal audit and assurance outcomes.
- Translate complex compliance and governance frameworks into meaningful actions for frontline teams.
- Champion a culture of learning, continuous improvement, and psychological safety across the team and organisation.
Key Responsibilities: - Coordinate and oversee all assurance planning, delivery, and reporting activities.
- Drive innovation and improvement in risk, compliance, and assurance practices.
- Establish and maintain strong relationships with operational leaders, service teams, and external audit providers.
- Monitor and report on quality outcomes, risk mitigation, and audit performance.
- Ensure compliance with all safeguarding, regulatory, and legislative obligations.
- Manage the Assurance team’s budget, performance, and workforce planning in line with organisational priorities.
About You:
You are a collaborative, strategic, and operationally strong leader who thrives in complex environments. You bring:
- Demonstrated leadership experience in Assurance and Internal Audit, preferably within human services, health, or a complex community organisation.
- Strong knowledge of internal audit standards, governance frameworks, and risk management principles.
- Proven experience overseeing outsourced audit providers and managing complex assurance projects.
- Exceptional communication, stakeholder engagement, and analytical skills.
- A commitment to service excellence, continuous improvement, and client outcomes.
- Relevant tertiary qualifications in assurance, risk, governance, business, legal, or a related field (essential).
- Current National Police Check and eligibility for Blue Card and NDIS Worker Screening (or willingness to obtain).
