Parish Secretary – Goodna Parish
Permanent Part-Time | 24 Hours Per Week (Tuesday to Friday)

Do you have a heart for service, exceptional administrative skills, and a desire to support the mission of the Catholic Church? Goodna Parish is seeking a proactive and organised Parish Secretary to join our small team on a permanent part-time basis.
About Us
The Archdiocese of Brisbane supports over 90 parishes, Centacare services, and community agencies, delivering essential services to Queenslanders each day. The People and Culture team provides a shared HR service to all Archdiocesan entities (excluding Catholic Education), offering support across recruitment, onboarding, compliance, and HR systems.
About the Role
This vital role supports the day-to-day operations of the parish office, working closely with the Parish Priest and volunteers. As the first point of contact for many parishioners, you will play an integral role in managing reception, communications, records, and basic financial administration.
Key Responsibilities
- Answering phones and greeting visitors in a professional and welcoming manner
- Preparing weekly parish bulletins and newsletters• Coordinating bookings for baptisms, weddings, funerals, and Masses
- Maintaining sacramental and parish registers
- Providing administrative support for the sacramental program
- Managing basic invoicing, banking, and planned giving records
- Preparing liturgical materials and coordinating church supplies
- Uploading content to the parish website or social media
- Assisting with WHS checks and safeguarding documentation
- Coordinating volunteers and managing rosters
- Acting as the central contact for minor maintenance requests and contractor visits
- Supporting the Parish Priest with meeting preparation and general administration
- Overseeing the smooth running of all parish office functions with minimal supervision
About YouTo succeed in this role, you will have: - Previous experience in an administrative, clerical, or office support role
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and a willingness to learn parish systems such as Flocknote
- A high level of discretion and professionalism in managing confidential matters
- Excellent communication, organisation, and time management skills
- An understanding of, or openness to, the values and teachings of the Catholic Church
Requirements - Current or willingness to obtain a Blue Card and National Police Check
- Availability to work on-site from Tuesday to Friday, 9:00am – 3:00pm
