At Centacare Family and Relationship Services (CFRS), we are committed to supporting people in making safe, respectful, and healthy life choices through inclusive, evidence-based counselling and relationship services.
We are currently seeking a skilled and compassionate Practitioner to join our dedicated team and deliver high-quality support to individuals, couples, children, and families across our community.
About the Role
In this varied and rewarding position, you will provide professional counselling and support services to individuals, couples, children and families facing complex challenges such as domestic and family violence, separation, trauma, or parenting difficulties.
Key responsibilities:
- Deliver trauma-informed, client-centred counselling and brief intervention services
- Facilitate therapeutic and psycho-educational groups
- Manage intake and assessment processes
- Maintain high standards of record keeping, data collection, and reporting
- Contribute to continuous improvement, planning, and evaluation activities
- Work collaboratively with colleagues and external stakeholders to ensure holistic care
- Actively participate in supervision, training, and professional development opportunities
Key Selection Criteria: - Tertiary qualifications in Social Work, Psychology, Social or Behavioural Sciences
- Eligibility for professional membership with APS, AASW or similar
- Experience in contemporary counselling techniques (e.g., solution-focused, trauma-informed, family systems)
- Strong understanding of Domestic & Family Violence, Child Protection, and Family Law
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and report writing skills
- Ability to work independently and within a multidisciplinary team
- Commitment to working within the ethos of the Catholic Church and Centacare’s values
- Demonstrated computer literacy and proficiency with data and case management systems
Additional Requirements: - Current Driver’s Licence
- Working with Children Check (Blue Card) or ability to obtain
- Australian Work Rights and Federal Police Check (or ability to obtain)
