For Christians, the funeral rites assist the family to farewell their loved one through worship, praise and thanksgiving for the gift of life now returned to God.
Currently providing pastoral care for families of all Christian denominations for Redcliffe, Brisbane, Ipswich and Toowoomba, and expanding in the Gold and Sunshine Coast regions.
An opportunity now exists for a Casual Funeral Director’s Assistant to join the team at our North Brisbane location. This is a unique opportunity to provide the best funeral service to our client families.
The successful applicant must possess a mature, caring and understanding nature, together with well-developed interpersonal skills. A high standard of presentation and communication is essential.
An ability to understand/have an interest in Audio and Visual presentations is essential as well as ability to adapt between different systems in Churches and Chapels.
The successful applicant will have the ability to work within a busy team environment with limited supervision and have excellent time management skills.
Key Duties but not limited to:
- General assistance on all Funeral Services
- Vehicle Cleaning
- Driving of Funeral Vehicles – Hearses and Transfer Van
- Transfers of Deceased Persons from Hospitals, Nursing Homes and Residences
- Participation in an After-Hours Roster - therefore must live within 30 minutes of the Funeral Home to be able to meet your Colleague to attend to After Hours Transfers when required
- Support to the families and attendees at a Funeral Service
- Frequent manual handling / lifting
- Maintain high standard of Personal Hygiene
To be successful in this position, you will need to meet the following criteria:
- An understanding of the funeral service industry and its operations, or ability to rapidly acquire industry knowledge
- Receptive to on-the-job mentoring, direction and training to work part of a wider team
- Ability to work professionally, showing respect to the public across a wide variety of cultures.
- Ability to work under pressure while at the same time, being warm and approachable.
- Hold a current and unrestricted full driver’s licence.
- A willingness to work within the Mission and Vision of the Catholic Church.

The successful candidate will also need to submit to a national criminal history/police check, possess a current Working with Children Blue Card, sign a Prior Conduct Declaration and COVID19 vaccination evidence.
