Vacation Care Manager
Catholic Early EdCare | Queensland
What if Vacation Care were designed as carefully as a major event series?
Across Queensland, thousands of children arrive at OSHC services every school holiday expecting something simple:
Fun.
Adventure.
Friends.
Something different from school.
What they experience might be a science incursion, a wildlife excursion, a cooking challenge, a robotics workshop, or a day at the beach.
What they don’t see is the system behind it.
Behind our Vacation Care program sits an intricate operational puzzle:
- Hundreds of activities and experiences
- Dozens of suppliers and excursion providers
- Tight school holiday delivery windows
- Complex logistics across 135+ services
- Financial risk, pricing, and margins to manage
- Safety, compliance, transport and staffing considerations
- Families who expect every holiday to be exceptional
When it works well, it feels effortless.
But effortless programs are
never accidental.
They are designed.
Catholic Early EdCare is looking for a
Vacation Care Manager to lead the
design, architecture and continuous improvement of Vacation Care across one of Queensland’s largest OSHC networks.
This role exists to build something ambitious:
A
state-of-the-art Vacation Care program model that allows our services to deliver exceptional holiday experiences — consistently, efficiently, and sustainably.
If you enjoy solving complex operational puzzles, designing systems that make large programs run smoothly, and turning creative ideas into structured delivery, this role will be deeply satisfying.
The Role
At its heart, this role is about solving one important question:
How do we deliver school holiday programs that children love, families trust, services can deliver with confidence, and the organisation can sustain? To achieve this, you will lead the
design, structure and continuous improvement of Vacation Care across the network.
Your work will shape how programs are:
- Designed
- Costed and priced
- Planned and scheduled
- Procured and contracted
- Documented and communicated
- Delivered across services
You will bring together
creativity, operational rigour, and commercial thinking to build a program model that works reliably — holiday after holiday.
Key areas of focus include:
Program Design & Experience - Designing engaging Vacation Care program frameworks and themes
- Curating high-quality incursions, excursions and experiences
- Balancing creativity with operational feasibility across services
Operational Architecture - Building clear planning timelines and delivery frameworks
- Developing documentation, systems and processes that services can rely on
- Reducing complexity for service leaders while improving consistency
Commercial Performance - Applying strong commercial thinking to pricing, cost management and value
- Managing vendor relationships, contracts and supplier performance
- Ensuring programs are financially sustainable across the network
Multi-Site Program Delivery - Coordinating program planning across 135+ services
- Managing multiple moving parts simultaneously
- Ensuring quality and consistency at scale
This role sits at the intersection of
program design, logistics, and commercial operations.
Who This Role Is For
Experience in Early Education or Vacation Care is highly valued.
We are looking for someone who understands how to
design and deliver children’s programs at scale, and who enjoys bringing structure to complex operational environments.
Relevant backgrounds may include:
- Vacation Care or school holiday program leadership
- Children’s event management (large-scale or multi-site programs)
More important than your background is your ability to:
- Design structured, engaging experiences for children
- Manage suppliers, budgets and commercial considerations
- Build processes and systems that others can rely on
- Lead complex planning cycles with clarity and calm
- Deliver programs consistently across multiple locations
- Turn complexity into structure
This role suits someone who enjoys
designing systems that make complex things run beautifully.
