Our client partner is seeking an experienced Purchasing Officer to join their team on an initial 2-month contract, based at Perth Airport. This is an excellent opportunity to join a well-established mining contractor and support a busy procurement function in a fast-paced environment.
 
About the Role
 
Reporting to the Procurement team, you will be responsible for the timely processing of purchase requisitions, raising purchase orders, supporting internal stakeholders, and ensuring procurement activities are completed in line with company policies and procedures. You'll play a key role in maintaining procurement compliance while supporting the efficient delivery of goods and services across the business.
 
Key Responsibilities

• Process purchase requisitions and purchase orders within required timeframes
• Ensure procurement activities comply with company policies and procurement frameworks
• Monitor purchase requests for correct approvals, supporting documentation and supplier compliance
• Expedite overdue purchase orders and provide updates to internal stakeholders
• Promote the use of preferred suppliers and existing supply agreements
• Assist with supplier performance and continuous improvement initiatives
• Resolve purchasing queries, credits, damaged goods and short supply issues
• Maintain accurate procurement records while ensuring confidentiality at all times
• Contribute to ongoing improvements across the Procure-to-Pay (P2P) function

About You

• Previous experience in a Purchasing Officer, Procurement Officer or similar role
• Experience within the mining, industrial services or heavy industry sector
• Strong working knowledge of SAP S/4 HANA
• Proficient across the Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel and Outlook
• Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
• High attention to detail with the ability to prioritise competing tasks
• A proactive attitude and ability to work both independently and collaboratively

Highly regarded:

• Experience with Ariba Business Network
• Experience using Felix
• Exposure to Ignition Supply Chain Management or similar procurement platforms
