Our client partner is seeking a commercially focused Senior Management Accountant (Plant & Equipment Assets) to play a key role in supporting the financial performance of a large and diverse fleet of mining and civil equipment.

Based at the company's Yatala office, this permanent Monday to Friday position offers the opportunity to work closely with operational leaders, providing valuable financial insights that drive business performance and decision-making.

About the Role
Reporting to the Plant Manager, you will be responsible for the financial management and reporting of the company's plant and equipment assets, ensuring accurate cost allocation, asset accounting and performance analysis across multiple projects.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Managing plant asset accounting, depreciation and capital expenditure reporting
• Monitoring plant utilisation, ownership costs and operational performance
• Preparing monthly financial reports, reconciliations and management analysis
• Assisting with budgeting, forecasting and variance analysis
• Supporting project teams with plant costing and financial reporting
• Maintaining the fixed asset register and ensuring compliance with accounting standards
• Partnering with operational managers to improve equipment profitability and cost control
• Assisting with month-end and year-end reporting processes
• Identifying opportunities to improve financial systems, reporting and business processes

About You
To be successful in this role, you will bring:

• Relevant tertiary qualifications in Accounting, Finance or Commerce
• CPA or CA qualification (or working towards) highly regarded
• Previous experience in a Senior Management Accountant or Senior Asset Accountant role
• Experience within mining, civil construction, heavy equipment or contracting industries is highly desirable
• Strong understanding of fixed assets, depreciation and capital accounting
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and experience using ERP/accounting systems
• Excellent analytical, organisational and problem-solving skills
• Strong communication skills with the ability to build relationships across finance and operations
• A proactive approach with a continuous improvement mindset
